When its offshore rigs reported increasing water-cut, a North Sea oil producer wanted to know if the ratio of water production would plateau. S&P Global evaluated a third-party geological study and developed a waterflood simulation that identified the cause and suggested that the firm could continue to achieve strong oil recovery performance. As production proceeded, this forecast proved accurate.
