UK Households pull back on their expectations of first interest rate hike

Survey data collected from 1,500 households by Ipsos MORI on behalf of Markit found that half of all households that expressed a view expect interest rates to start rising within the next six months. In total, some 79% expect to see the first rate hike to take place within the next 12 months. However, this represents an easing in rate hike expectations compared to June, when 60% anticipated rates to start rising within the next six months and 85% within a year.
