This report reviews the fundamentals of supercritical fluid processing, current and potential applications of the technology, and the patents related to the processes. It also includes the process economics of using Supercritical fluid (carbon dioxide) to reduce the water content of an acrylamide gel and to recover ethylene oxide from its aqueous solution.

Although high pressure polymerization of ethylene is carried out in Supercritical conditions, it is not included in this report because it is the topic of PEP Reports 36, 36A, and 36B.
