Basically, there is only one commercial method for the production of urea and that is by the reaction of ammonia with carbon dioxide. However, there are a number of variations in the types of processes that are employed. Seven processes are evaluated in this report. Five of these are in commercial use, one has been tested at the pilot plant level, and one has been designed but to our knowledge has not been tested experimentally.
